The 2014 Balestard-la-Tonnelle has a reserved bouquet with a slight leafiness tincturing the broody red berry fruit, but it is well defined and gains vigor as it opens in the glass.
The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannin and well-judged acidity. There is a surfeit of soy-tinged black fruit leading to a finish that offers impressive body and density.
