About Castello di Neive 

Castello di Neive is a renowned winery located in the historical village Neive of Barbaresco, tracked back to 18^th century. The winery was the castle of the village owning exceptional vineyard and “monopole” Santo Stefano, one of the most beautiful historical vineyard of the area. With the time-honoured wine making method tailoring for the precious grape, Nebbiolo, Castello di Neive transmits the strength and significance of Barbaresco.

Bought by Stupino family in 1964, Castello di Neive was taken care by Italo Stupino’s, with his passion to the vineyard. Thanks to his training as an engineer and his former career in industry, he furthered the development of a scientific approach to both vineyards and countryside. Starting from 1970’s, the collaboration of the University in the vineyard enhanced and modernize the winemaking techniques.

The winery owned several vineyard with excellent sun-exposure and century-long history, including “Santo Stefano” and “Gallina”. The monopole Santo Stefano expresses the uniqueness of the winery. Starting from 18th century, the vineyard Santo Stefano was the parish church. The winemakers in the old days understood the uniqueness of its Nebbiolo and the vineyard was well deserved both a separate vilification and storage.

Most of the wine is now produced from over 40-year-old vine, with scientific clonal selection. The winery acquired modern wine-making technique, including fermentation in stainless steel tank and automated system of pumping over mechanisms. Production is from 20,000 to 25,000 bottles annually.

The style of the wine is filled with aromatic scent and elegance, with the note of dried fruit, rose and violet petals. Full bodied and refined tannin. A combination of well integrated oak and delicate acidity. The wine expresses the good harmony and well balanced structure.
